Walking the streets in NYC you never know what or who you are going to see.
This week as I walked down Sixth Ave I saw a few people standing around a guy who at first you don't even notice as a person since he doesn't really have any normal features you'd expect to see on a person.
I stopped of course take a pic and wound up talking to him for about 10 minutes. I asked him about the "issues" of being in public when you do have a unique appearance. He said he doesn't go out too much and that he realizes the situation but it was something he always wanted to do. The tattoos took him about 16 years he says. He's a retired computer programmer and made his money working on mainframes a couple decades ago.
I was standing there as people would stop and ask for a photo and he would ask for $1 from them - I paid also which seemed reasonable for the hassle of stopping often for people to shoot a shot. Now here's the kicker - this spry guy is 85 years old! He really is in great shape and I asked him how do you do it ?? 85 - wow. He said the key to life is to always have a plan or thought to take you to the next thing. He doesn't like boredom. So even taking a walk around the block which could take him a long time with all the oooo's and ahhhh's he presses on.
