Everyone always asks me " Do you always carry a camera with you?" and I always say yes of course!
The other day it was hot - real hot - dam hot - and carrying my DSLR was not really working for me and I debated what to go with and picked up my point n shoot instead.
No sooner did I step out my door did I see the first major accident in my hood in 10 years. Two taxis ricocheted off each other and one hit the phone booths pretty hard. I began snapping best I could with my F70EXR and here are some of the many pix. It also gave me a new appreciation for the barriers they put up in front of the phone booths. It protected the phones and took the brunt of the car - crushing the front end of the cab.
The lesson of the day is the old saying - when you least expect it......
Have a great weekend. A short video from the event is posted here -

This week I shot a couple neats portraits. One was an experiment with the panoramic feature in the camera and the other was a great setting.
At the beach I thought about trying to see what happens with the sweep pano feature if the scene didn't change during exposure. With this feature you need to rotate the camera as it shoots and it then stitches the photo for an approximately 180 degree image. So as I rotated the camera I kept my face in the way and the image you see is what the camera did. The pano image are of course very long but not very high so hopefully you can view them large enough to see details. Certainly won't work on the phone!
The other image is of the Brommers, who when I saw them step up to the alter at a party in a converted synagogue on the lower east side - I knew I had a great shot with the colors and their "look" during this spontaneous moment.

This week I was playing with high speed capture in both video and still.
One of the shots I've always liked is the sand flying from the swing of the golf club in a sand trap.
Of course any golf day is bound to have one or two of these so when the opportunity came I got ready and decided to take a chance and just shoot it.
I wouldn't recommend trying this on a drive - since I was just playing the odds that Kayce would hit it over me as I was laying down near the edge of the trap.
Have a good weekend.

PS - Kayce rocked a 65ft put on the 18th that was beyond words with a corkscrew finish to drop in.

If you haven't been to Times Square in a while - things have certainly changed over the past year.
With the new traffic patterns instituted and the pedestrian mall - the area is alive and teeming with people from all over the world.
These pics show the depth of people from edge to edge. It's really an amazing transformation now that Broadway is closed.
The overview shot is from the top corner of the risers which is shown in a sweep panoramic shot far left corner. The last is a shot from about 3 blocks away of the big screen with tourists taking pics at the top of the stairs. 720mm close up shot.
