Amazing Art at 5 Points in Long Island City

This week I headed over to the "famous" 5 points art section of buildings in LIC.  This amazing and colorful display on the building there is a photographer's paradise.
I brought along my Fujifilm X-E2 and the XF14mm, XF23mm and XF55-200 for complete coverage of all the threatened murals.  Some may know that the building is being discussed for demolition to put in two high rise towers and there is a battle to preserve the art.  Does the owner of the building have the right to destroy the art he permitted to be created there?  The courts are deciding this based on some older laws on the books protecting artist's creations.  But is the widely accepted form of graffiti an accepted and permanent art form able to prevent the owner from developing his land?  Time will tell now shortly!
