Fujifilm FinePix X100 Film Simulation Modes

These are jpeg files with no photoshop tweaking - they are not from a production camera and are for overall impressions not intense analysis of the film simulation modes.  I do not have a raw converter yet for the files so everything posted is jpeg.  The files are labeled, and the camera shoots 3 files from 1 press of the shutter release.  Instantly capturing a film simulation bracket in Provia, Velvia and Astia modes.  Our popular professional chrome films.  You should be able to see differences in contrast and saturation - but the software is still being worked on for final file results.  brandon1@aol.com

  1. Thanks. Have you tried shooting in high ISO? Can you post some samples?

  2. Nice Brandon, hard to tell the subtle differences on the web-posted images, but it looks like some of the reds are less saturated in the different versions. Have you tried any experiments with shadow details on contrasty shots?

Very nice colors. Astia is the best for PP. Velvia's greens look a little bit warm IMO. Provia is good for normal mode. Thanks a lot!
Could you post more samples: how about portraits / bokeh samples @F2 - F4 and cityscapes / landscapes at smaller aperture?
    Thanks again for your time!

  4. Hi, what do you think of the camera as a 'street camera' as Steiglitz, Bresson might have used it? How does it handle and feel for quick discreet shots? Something you can take out of your pocket, observe and grab a shot, feel like you're part of the environment rather than standing out with fifty pounds of gear :-)

  8. Thanks for these photos. I am considering whether to buy an X100 or not. Of all the photos from it that I have seen, these are the best so far in helping me with my decision. I would appreciate more photos of street scenes if possible. The Velvia mode photo seems the most pleasing to me.
