This week there were a lot of events due to photo week in nyc being in full swing. Most of the 1000+ pics were party shots so those are bouncing around the web in different forms now.
At Photo Plus the Sony booth had a neat indoor set up and I was able to get pretty close to the bike action for a few fun snaps.

Fall Colors on an A8 Drive
Last weekend I was lucky enough to have an Audi A8 for a few days. What a thrill to drive a great performance vehicle. The car delivers a great combo of power and handling in a big car. After about 300 miles I was hooked on it and then the weekend was over. But I did get to see the leaves changing color along the way.

I really had a hard time choosing what to send this week - but the bar at the new Gansevoort Hotel really had a neat feature I wanted to share.
Their outdoor terrace bar has a panoramic view of the city with glass floor panels to give you a whole other perspective while getting intoxicated.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Wedding Bliss
Two areas of the wedding last weekend caught my eye. The beautiful bathroom entrance hall and the amazing candy truck which showed up at the end of the night. Imagine being a kid and having this thing show up at halloween for you and your friends. A truck of junk!

Giants Tailgate
The scene at a football game is truly great. The energy is amped up and folks are all about their team and fun. I think these guys show a little Giants spirit!

The other evening I looked up and saw an amazing sky. Normally a simple NYC sunset scene wouldn't be that noteworthy - but I just had to share this one. No adjustments made - just a point n shoot camera looking out.
The other image is the skyline which I never can get enough of. Interesting to see how the city comes together with all the buildings fitting in this small space.

Photo Shoot at the Maritime
Today I was invited by photographer Mark Mann to see them use the FP100 4x5 film in his Graphlex for a fashion shoot. He captured some amazing images! Here is a quick look behind the scenes up in the penthouse.

Shooting the Blues
Sometimes things just click. The other day at a photo shoot in an alley this scene just popped when Kezi stood by an old warehouse window.

This week a few shots made me look twice at the way I am used to seeing camera files from my point and shoot.
These 2 images really pop in most aspects and they were done with my F300EXR. The chip is really surprising me. The color is amazing and the night shot at 8 seconds is impressive.

Instax Moment Then and Now
The other day while I was at lunch with the family and shooting the Instax Mini my cousin pulled out his Instax shot I did in August 2009 he had in his wallet. So we recreated the shot with the FinePix F300EXR and here they both are!

Walking the streets in NYC you never know what or who you are going to see.
This week as I walked down Sixth Ave I saw a few people standing around a guy who at first you don't even notice as a person since he doesn't really have any normal features you'd expect to see on a person.
I stopped of course take a pic and wound up talking to him for about 10 minutes. I asked him about the "issues" of being in public when you do have a unique appearance. He said he doesn't go out too much and that he realizes the situation but it was something he always wanted to do. The tattoos took him about 16 years he says. He's a retired computer programmer and made his money working on mainframes a couple decades ago.
I was standing there as people would stop and ask for a photo and he would ask for $1 from them - I paid also which seemed reasonable for the hassle of stopping often for people to shoot a shot. Now here's the kicker - this spry guy is 85 years old! He really is in great shape and I asked him how do you do it ?? 85 - wow. He said the key to life is to always have a plan or thought to take you to the next thing. He doesn't like boredom. So even taking a walk around the block which could take him a long time with all the oooo's and ahhhh's he presses on.
