Updates - I share your thoughts on the need for another firmware upgrade, and in time that will happen. Until then the camera is a lot of fun to use and the quality of the files are awesome.
Today Apple released their Aperture RAW compatibility for the X100 and I'm thrilled. I can do so much more with my images and turn off the jpeg function in camera. The image below was hand held. Just took a breath and squeezed off the silent frame around 11pm one night.
X100 ISO 400 - 1/25 @ F/4.0 |
Thanks for the update!
ReplyDeleteI hope amazon picks my lens hood order to ship!
Thanks for this...
ReplyDeleteCan you comment as to possible firmware revisions?
Nice photo. Did you shoot several to reduce vibration? Or, were you lucky the first time at 1/25? I don't think I could be that steady.
ReplyDeleteCan you comment on whether it is a good idea to convert files to Adobe DNG format? For example, is it a lossless conversion?
ReplyDeleteI'm asking because DNG files are about half the size of the corresponding raw files; and that's within the plausible range for lossless conversion.
Where can I get an x100 in NYC ?
ReplyDelete@ark, DNG is lossless conversion. It's a nonproprietary RAW file format containing the RAW data from the camera sensor, but stored in an "envelope" whose parameters are published and known, rather than proprietary and secretive.
